MONSTER IN THE DARK (2008, 2009)
by Doug Dorst and the foolsFURY ensemble

Monster is a collaboration with best-selling novelist Doug Dorst (S., Alive in Necropolis). A deeply disturbing, sometimes hilarious examination fantastic on the fears we grapple with in our anxiety-laden society. A community at once engagingly foreign and disturbingly familiar, is shaped by three intense forces that have become so interwoven that it is hard to know where one ends and the next begins:  a powerful, invasive government (The Structure), a state-endorsed fundamentalist religion (The Makersellers), and the world of commerce (The Stuff-Thrusters). When the foretold signs of the apocalypse approach, the uneasy balance between the three is is broken.

“Visually and linguistically sumptuous. Top 10 Bay Area productions of the year." - East Bay Express

” Monster is Masterful…passionate performances in creative future world production.” San Francisco Examiner
